Day 1 Notes:
Sit-spot activity:
Looking at the veins of the maple leaf: the network they created is connected to
the idea of Iterative adjustment
After close observation of trees - noticing how the lines are not straight
Human are often forcing things to be straight (like cut)
The role of naming in math education: Naming as opportunity and constraints
Exploring paths:
What is lost by revealing too much about tasks (e.g. talking about slopes)
Visual observation versus noticing how body reacts to walking along different surfaces
Constructing leaves from compass and straightedge:
Constructing as an act of noticing
Constraining tools as a way to do mathematics and create mathematical objects
